CAUSA – Ali Rahim

This Lecture seemed to sum up the push that graphics i/ii were going in. Creating dynamic systems can lead to new architectural forms and more sensitive environments. The dynamic systems we make can be tuned for different criteria and allow for an easy exploration or variation of key elements comprising the system. This may be one way of pushing architecture into the future and further into the digital realm.

Bratton exemplifies seeking non-traditional ways of exploring architecture. Although he contradicts himself regularly, it may be intentional as he seems to be a promoter of complexity and contradiction in architecture.

Philip is exploring interesting ways of making interactive architecture. The systems he develops allow for architecture to almost be alive as it responds to the stimuli in its environment. How does this relate to our class, well many of Philip’s designs rely on tessellations, stackable and combinable modules that create a whole. We have explored these building blocks and Philip’s work is simply an example of them in practical use.
